Last fall, over four hundred members of our community worked together to build a new playground at Gages Lake School in a single day. SEDOL Foundation, in partnership with KaBOOM! and Discover Financial Services, is thrilled to announce the construction of a new playground for our special needs children at Sally Potter School this September.
Providing children with healthy recreational resources encourages imagination, creativity and positive social interaction. Play gives children an opportunity to develop the cognitive skills that are conducive to academic success, while still giving students a temporary break from the classroom.
SEDOL students were able to participate in Design Day, creating drawings of their dream playground so that their unique visions and ideas could be considered throughout the entirety of the playground design process. This ensures the creation of a playground that properly reflects the individual needs and desires of the Sally Potter School students.
The response from the Gages Lake School students last year was overwhelmingly positive, so we could not be happier to be building a second playground this fall for kids at another SEDOL school.
